How do I dub a YouTube video into my language for free?

Install Oyelo, a free Chrome extension, open the video and press Dub. Oyelo reads the video's subtitles (or listens to the speech when there are none), translates them into your language and speaks them in sync with the picture, with a translated subtitle line on the video. No account and no API key are needed.

How to do it

  1. Install Oyelo from the Chrome Web Store (Chrome on a computer).
  2. Open the Oyelo popup once and pick the language you want to hear.
  3. Open any YouTube video and press the Dub button on the player.
  4. Watch: the video is dubbed as it plays, the original sound is turned down, and a translated subtitle line appears on the video.
  5. Open the transcript at any time to read, copy or download it as .txt or .srt.

Questions and answers

Is it really free?

Yes. Dubbing, live translation and natural voices work free with no sign-up. A key from OpenAI, Gemini, Google Cloud or Soniox is optional, and you pay that provider directly.

Which languages can I dub into?

More than 70, including Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Hindi, Indonesian, Thai, Japanese and Korean. The interface itself is in 53 languages.

Does it work on live streams and videos with no subtitles?

Yes. When a video has no subtitles, Oyelo listens to the speech and translates it live instead.

Is my viewing sent to a server?

Only the text or audio needed for the translation goes to the speech and translation service doing that step. Your transcripts stay in your browser, and Oyelo keeps no copy.
